In 2018, I released an Ableton Max device called the Squid Slicer. I didn’t have the cash to buy the a synth or a module to do it, so I took it upon myself to make it from scratch.
The Squid Slicer is a monophonic instrument that uses wavetable synthesis to create percussive and melodic sequences. You can draw your own waves, sculpt the sound with an envelope, control the levels, and swing of note hits.
Comparing to today’s standard’s it’s antiquated. At the time I wanted to make a device capable of making distorted bass and percussive sounds to change on the fly for my live set. Now I’ve solved this problem with my modular synth.
